Pumpkins, Apples and Cinnamon Sticks!

Crisp air, early morning fog and a cozy oversized sweatshirt with a warm cup of coffee to start the day.

Ah, this could only mean one thing….Fall is finally here! Rejoice! I can not help but love this time of year…It’s truly my favorite season! If you are like me, the first chill in the air hits and you find yourself making plans to visit a pumpkin patch and pick apples, bake pies, drink hot cider (and maybe have a few warm cider donuts..who’s counting?) Oh, and all of the fresh seasonal ingredients that Fall has to offer! Citrus fruits and vegetables abound.

After coming off months of grilled shrimp and steak, pasta with “no cook” sauces and of course the quintessential foods of summer, hamburgers and hot dogs, my soul always seems to crave the hearty, rustic “food love” of a thick and creamy potato leek soup, deliciously rich, wine-infused pot roast, stuffed artichokes, balsamic braised sausage, freshly baked pumpkin bread and some good ‘ol homestyle meatloaf with garlic mash… just to name a few.

On top of all the delicious comfort food that comes with this great season, I can not help but look forward to the holidays to come. For cooking a quiet dinner for the four of us or entertaining a crowd of family and friends. It is just a great time of year to bring all your loved ones together, to gaze back on a year of triumphs and stumbles, to laugh and look forward to what the new year will bring…and what better way to do that than over some scrumptious food (and some knock out drinks!)

Stay tuned for some fantastic seasonal recipes, entertaining tips for the upcoming holiday season, maybe even a few holiday crafts to enjoy by yourself, or with the kids! Enjoy the season and be inspired!
